RIL Commissions 1st Phase of Paraxylene Plant at Jamnagar

Today Reliance Industry has announced in New Delhi that the first phase of commissioning of Paraxylene plant is coming up at Gujarat, Jamnagar.
The plant is coming up with a capacity of 2.2 million tons per annum. It is built with advanced crystallization technology from BP, which is energy efficient and atmosphere friendly.
According to the company statement, “With the commissioning of this plant, RIL’s PX capacity will more than double from 2.0 million tons to 4.2 million tons per annum.” Mukesh Ambani finally decides and comes up with 1st phase of Paraxylene Plant at Jamnagar and has announced about this at New Delhi today.
According to the research, Reliance now would be the second largest PX producer in the world with 11 per cent share of global production and 9 per cent of global PX capacity. To improve the profitability of the Jamnagar facility, the new PX plant will be adding more value to the output from refineries. PX is the main block for the complete polyester chain.
For leading the improved margins and also strengthen its position in the field of polyester industry globally, the new capacity will be completely in integration with Reliance’s polyester value chain.
The Chairman and Managing Director, RIL who is Mukesh Ambani stated – “These projects are part of the largest contemporary investment, in excess of Rs 100,000 crore, in refining and petrochemicals sector anywhere in the world.”
He even added – “The new PX capacity takes us a step closer to being among the top 10 petrochemical players globally.” These projects are in an advanced stage of mechanical completion. This is the series of project that is going to be commissioned by the new PX plant – Ethane import project, the refinery off-gas cracker and the petcoke gasification,
